Privacy Policy

1. Controller
The controller responsible for data processing within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:
Sebastian Krause – Software Development
An den Teichen 40
01108 Dresden, Germany
E-mail: info@bierpeilung.de
2. Principle: data minimisation
BierPeilung is designed to process as little data as possible. The app works without a user account, without an internet connection and without advertising or analytics services. Location and sensor data are processed exclusively on your device and are not transmitted to us or to third parties.
3. Data processing in the app
a) Location data
To provide its core function – showing the direction and distance to a selected brewery – the app accesses your device location (precise and/or approximate location). The location is used exclusively on your device to calculate the distance and bearing to the brewery. There is no transmission, storage on servers or disclosure to us or to third parties. Access only takes place while the app is actively in use ("while using the app").
The legal basis is your consent through granting the location permission in the operating system (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR). You can withdraw the location permission at any time in your device settings; the app's core function will then be limited.
b) Compass and motion sensors
To align the compass needle, the app reads your device's sensor data (magnetometer/compass). This data is processed locally in real time and is neither stored nor transmitted.
c) Locally stored settings and favourites
Favourites you mark and app settings are stored locally on your device (using the standard mechanism of the operating system). This data remains on the device, is not transmitted to us and can be completely removed by clearing the app data or uninstalling the app.
d) Brewery data
The breweries shown in the app are stored within the app and are not loaded over the internet. No personal data is processed for this purpose.
4. Download via the app stores
You obtain the app via the Apple App Store or Google Play. When downloading, the respective store processes the required information (e.g. user ID, e-mail address, time of download, payment information and the individual device identifier). We have no influence over this processing; the respective store operator is responsible. Further information can be found in the privacy notices of Apple (apple.com/legal/privacy) and Google (policies.google.com/privacy).
5. Data processing on this website
a) Hosting and server log files
This website runs on a server administered by us at the infrastructure provider Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany. When the website is accessed, technically necessary access data is collected in so-called server log files (e.g. IP address, date and time of access, page accessed, amount of data transferred, browser type and operating system). This processing serves the secure and stable operation of the website and is based on our legitimate interest (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR is in place with Hetzner Online GmbH.
b) No cookies, no tracking
The website sets no cookies, embeds no external fonts, maps or analytics/advertising services, and does not create usage profiles.
c) Contacting us
If you contact us by e-mail (info@bierpeilung.de), we process the data you provide (e.g. name, e-mail address, content of the message) solely to handle your enquiry. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in responding (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR) or Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR where it concerns the initiation or performance of a contract. The data is deleted as soon as it is no longer required and no statutory retention obligations prevent this.
6. Disclosure to third parties
Your personal data is not disclosed to third parties – with the exception of the hosting provider named above acting as a processor, and the app store operators in the context of the download.
7. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the following rights:
- Access to the data processed about you (Art. 15 GDPR)
- Rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16 GDPR)
- Erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)
- Restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
- Data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
- Objection to processing (Art. 21 GDPR)
- Withdrawal of a given consent with effect for the future (Art. 7 (3) GDPR)
As we do not collect or store any personal data through the app itself, these rights relate in particular to processing in connection with the website and contacting us. You can delete the data stored locally on your device at any time via your device settings or by uninstalling the app.
To exercise your rights, a message to info@bierpeilung.de is sufficient.
8. Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority
Without prejudice to any other legal remedy, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), in particular in the Member State of your residence. The authority responsible for us is the Saxon Commissioner for Data Protection and Transparency (Sächsische Datenschutz- und Transparenzbeauftragte), Maternistraße 17, 01067 Dresden, Germany.
9. Data security
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect data against loss, manipulation and unauthorised access. This website is transmitted in encrypted form via HTTPS.
10. Changes to this privacy policy
We will amend this privacy policy as soon as the data processing or the legal framework changes. The current version published on this page always applies.
